2026 Dolly Goals update 4

I've been doing a lot of hard thinking about my doll collecting this year.  Like, a lot.  Like, possible life changing thoughts.  When writing a packing list for a trip, I came to the realization that 90% of my dolls don't even have a second outfit, forget a wardrobe.  That was a punch to the face.  So yeah, let's get to my dolly goal recaps.

2026 Dolly Goals update 3

6 months into the year, I've worked very hard and pushed myself pretty far on all fronts.  Today, I'm going over all my goals and seeing what progress I've made in the past 2 months.

Day 0: Last minute prep

I was not prepared for DHC this year, in spite of having months of advance notice and a month long delay.  I'm just really glad things are slowing down IRL.  I spent most of the Friday before con trying to catch up.  I cut out and painted Coby and Redd's convention shirts, then left them to dry.

2026 Dolly Goals Update 2

Two more months have passed.  A lot of dolls have gone out, and a lot of dolls have come in.  I've gotten some stuff done, but not nearly as much as I'd like.

Reorganize, Consolidate, all those words...

I'm just writing my thoughts down here, because I've had a lot of thoughts about my doll collection today, and they should be written down.  Currently, I have 67 full totes of dolls and friend-shaped toys.  I have 1 empty tote.  And I have 6 dolls preordered, and there's no way they'll all fit in one tote.  So I have to curate my collection a bit before all the preorders get here.

As far as just consolidating goes, I think I can squish some of my Rainbow High dolls together to free up 3 or 4 totes, without getting rid of anybody.  Currently Rainbow High has 17 totes in total, which is a lot a lot.  They're my biggest and most numerous dolls, but I can still store them better, maybe get them down to 12 or 15.

I recently consolidated my Monster High g3 dolls already, so they only take 7 totes, for almost 20 dolls, I'd say that's pretty good.

My sister's Winx dolls and Jewel Riders toys are eating up 4 totes, and that's not okay.  So they need a new, more consolidated box that will go to her when she gets her own space, so I can have my 4 totes back.

Most of my other boxes are pretty well organized.  Smaller dolls are 4 to a box.   Bigger dolls are 2 to a box.  I should honestly double check all of them, but that's gonna take all day.  I will enlist husband to help me and maybe do that this weekend.

2026 Dolly Goals Update 1

I'm only 2 months in, and it has already been a jam-packed year for me doll-wise.  There's a lot going on, and a lot to look forward to.  I've been working very hard, and I think I'm pleased with my progress so far.

Rectangle Heads Existential Crisis part 2

 I don't hate my silly rectangle headed dolls!  They're cute!  Man, the back and forth keeps going.  You see, what happened is, I have a metric ton of little plastic mini dolls right now, and they all have rectangle heads!  And I love them!  Why do I have so many?  I asked for many for Christmas, and then I bought more, and then I bought even more.  That's it.  That's the story.  

Rectangle Heads Existential Crisis

Okay, just when I thought it was a matter of life and death to get Dress to Impress dolls tonight, my dear husband pointed out they aren't really my aesthetic, like, at all, and maybe I've just been desperate to accumulate more dolls to make myself feel better...  I got the Royale High fairies on a deep discount, so they're less harm, but the Dress to Impress dolls are full price or more.  And maybe, maybe, I need to add a new rule to my doll rules list, maybe saying they shouldn't have rectangular heads.

2026 Doll Goals and Plans

2025 was a very emotional year for me, and it's reflected in my doll purchases.  I did some panic buying and some emotional buying.  In the spring, I got 4 Shadow High dolls just because I thought it was the end of the world, but the world persisted.  I bought Bilby and Stitches to stop myself from buying overpriced Kens on Ebay, then I broke down and bought Coby and Redd.  Some things I regret, and I've donated those dolls to thrift shops.  I got one of my lifetime grail dolls, Jem!  I adore her, no regrets there.  I worked on some older dolls, the Equestria Girls, and I'm proud of that, though I wish I finished!  I hope to finish them later.  And I binge bought every freaking Royale High doll in November and December.  Will I regret that later?  Maybe, but they were cheap, so it's okay.

Normally I would just go through my list of goals from January, but I wanted to put this front and center.

I photographed and documented 59 dolls this year.

I designed and hand sewed 25 doll garments this year.

That's freaking incredible to me!  I never feel like I get enough done, but counting it all up, it's a lot!

Rant: Why are they so expensive? The Holograms!

Why are they so fucking expensive?  When Jem released in February, she was only 25$, and she was in Walmart!  I bought her in person, and didn't have to pay shipping.  Why the hell are these almost double?

2025 Dolly Goals Update 3

I need to reassess.  I feel directionless and uninspired, which sucks.  Maybe looking at my earlier goals while I still have time to work on them.  Yeah, real life is sucky, but I need to focus!

Dolly House Con 25

Dolly House Con 25 was hella rushed, like 2 weeks notice this year, but still worth it.  It incentivized me to buy some Barbies, at long last.  I went like 1 month without buying dolls and I couldn't stand it, so I bought 2 Barbies, and I have enough Barbie sized fashion packs and accessories wishlisted to last me a year if a buy a couple each month.

This is the fashion pack I bought for Shelby and Misty.  It came in a very nice box and had mostly swimsuits and mermaid tails.

2025 New Plan: Equestria Girls Summer!

I'm bored with all my current doll happenings.  Also, I'm not getting anything new for the foreseeable future.  So, instead of everything else I was working on, I'm going to put it ALL away and work on Equestria Girls dolls for the next three months.

2025 Dolly Goals Update 2

It's my birthday!  Woo!  Sorry, unrelated.  Two months have passed, so it's time to assess my progress on my doll goals.  I'm gonna start by saying my current federal government is turned on it's head, so everyone's under a tremendous amount of stress.  So I'm trying to go easy on myself, because my god, the world is scarier than it was in the pandemic right now.

The Current State of Things

Since reality is what it is, I have chosen to buy a few final dolls this month before calling my collection complete, for the foreseeable future.

Here's who I've ordered this month:

• Luna Madison from Shadow High
• Nicole Steele from Shadow High
• Flash Sentry from Equestria Girls 

Since things seem dire, I looked at all my dolls and decided I wanted more boys, and more Shadow High.  Also, Flash Sentry has been sitting on my must buy list for ages now.  After they all arrive, no more new dolls.

2025 Dolly Goals Update 1

Since the real world has turned on it's head, I heavily considered unceremoniously dumping all my goals for 2025 into a dumpster to just focus on baseline survival, but things are going better than I expected, so I'm getting back on the saddle, as it were.

I'm going to have less doll related goals this year, because I'm moving my focus on my book, video game, and art backlog.  However, that doesn't mean I won't have doll goals for 2025!  Doll collecting is my passion and I'm happy to keep it in my life.  Here are my goals for my doll collection in the coming year.
