I'm just writing my thoughts down here, because I've had a lot of thoughts about my doll collection today, and they should be written down. Currently, I have 67 full totes of dolls and friend-shaped toys. I have 1 empty tote. And I have 6 dolls preordered, and there's no way they'll all fit in one tote. So I have to curate my collection a bit before all the preorders get here.
As far as just consolidating goes, I think I can squish some of my Rainbow High dolls together to free up 3 or 4 totes, without getting rid of anybody. Currently Rainbow High has 17 totes in total, which is a lot a lot. They're my biggest and most numerous dolls, but I can still store them better, maybe get them down to 12 or 15.
I recently consolidated my Monster High g3 dolls already, so they only take 7 totes, for almost 20 dolls, I'd say that's pretty good.
My sister's Winx dolls and Jewel Riders toys are eating up 4 totes, and that's not okay. So they need a new, more consolidated box that will go to her when she gets her own space, so I can have my 4 totes back.
Most of my other boxes are pretty well organized. Smaller dolls are 4 to a box. Bigger dolls are 2 to a box. I should honestly double check all of them, but that's gonna take all day. I will enlist husband to help me and maybe do that this weekend.
Unfortunately, I also need to downsize. I went fucking nuts last Christmas and asked for a plastic castle and a ton of roblox fairies. Naturally, the plastic castle is much bigger in person, and it's been taking up a huge chunk of my craft table ever since. As cool as it is to have a plastic castle, it's just not sensible for apartment living. Plus, of all the fairies I've got, and I have over a dozen of them, I only really like two, so I'll be keeping them and giving away the rest with the castle. That'll free up the roblox fairy totes and the castle furniture totes. I don't even play roblox, never have, and never will.
I'm also parting with some dolls I'm just not jiving with. The Hello Kitty dolls are cool in concept, but not very doll like in practice. And since I'm getting Hello Kitty themed Licca dolls, I don't feel quite so bad parting with the giant-headed Hello Kitty dolls. I'm still gonna have some Hello Kitty in my collection, just in a better doll format.
I've also had Bilby and Stitches, my two Kadhobby soldiers, on the chopping block for a few months, and I think I'm ready to let them go. They don't look different enough from each other, they're difficult to dress, and their heads aren't compatible with any replacement bodies I've bought for them. Honestly, I think their story is too far out of my knowledge base to write them a story that does them justice too. I dunno shit about medical or military, and I'm not willing to research it, can't stomach medical stuff and I don't wanna get army ads or something.
While I'm letting go of roblox fairies, I'm also letting go of other roblox mini dolls. I have a box of Dress to Impress mini dolls that I really shouldn't have bought to begin with. The whole plastic mini dolls thing with rubber clothing was just one giant "let's not do this again". I'm keeping two dark fairies, but everyone else, out the door. It doesn't matter how great it is that I can fit 20 of them in one tote. I can't really pose them for photos, and I can't sew them clothes, and that's the majority of what I do with my dolls. That and writing them smut, but I have plenty of other dolls to write smut about.
