Dolly House Con 26

Day 0: Last minute prep

I was not prepared for DHC this year, in spite of having months of advance notice and a month long delay.  I'm just really glad things are slowing down IRL.  I spent most of the Friday before con trying to catch up.  I cut out and painted Coby and Redd's convention shirts, then left them to dry.

But I was very indecisive this year, so Coby and Redd weren't my only attendees.  Bianca and Sabine had Etsy and Amazon hauls waiting for them, but weren't even ready!  Bianca's new head was waiting for months.  So I swapped on her new head, which arrived from Ebay as a rat's nest, so she needed a spa day desperately.

After that, I spent 2 hours drafting a curvy Barbie top pattern, because I didn't have one!  I've had curvy Barbies for 10 years this year, and never made them patterns.  Shame on me, but I'm fixing that this weekend.

Day 1

My sister and I started the con early in the morning, and went for 10 hours today.

We started with hours of crafting!  I cut out and painted con shirts for Sabine and Bianca, my first curvy Barbie pieces ever!  While waiting for the paint to dry, I drafted a curvy Barbie bottom pattern, so I'd have a complete set, like for my other dolls.  Then, we stopped crafting to have lunch and watch Kpop Demon Hunters!  It's doll related, the dolls came out this week.

After the movie, I finally got some sewing done!  I sewed Coby and Redd's shirts first.  They came out a little longer than I anticipated, but hey, they fit.  They weren't hard to get on either.  No fair!  Why are guys easier to dress up?

Sabine and Bianca got their shirts finished too.  I like how they came out.  Sewing 4 doll garments in less than 3 hours was a lot tho!  I will definitely plan better next time, and be more decisive too.

Here's some sewing my sister did today for a doll of some anime character I don't know.  She worked very hard on it though, so it deserves a mention! No crafts tomorrow though.  We're both kinda worn out.

The last thing I did today was unbox Zoey from Kpop Demon Hunters, but I'll post an unboxing blog and good photo shoot later.  But my dolls did get their pictures taken with her like a celebrity.

Day 2

We started really late today, because my sister had some errands to run that took all morning.

I did get around to unboxing my doll clothing haul for Sabine and Bianca.  Everything I ordered from Etsy was really nice!  They got swimsuits, sandals, and crocs.

This is the random fashion haul from Amazon.  Usually these are good for a laugh, but most of it just felt really sad and discouraging.  I might be able to use a couple pieces, but that fast food mumu is just insulting.

Since I didn't try anything on the dolls, I got through the whole thing in 20 minutes.  Then my sister spent the better part of an hour troubleshooting her printer.  Then she unboxed a Skullector clown doll.

We finished off the weekend by watching the Princess and the Pauper, because she wanted to watch a Barbie movie, and I figured this was the best one.  2 movies in 1 weekend, that's a lot for me.
