I'm only 2 months in, and it has already been a jam-packed year for me doll-wise. There's a lot going on, and a lot to look forward to. I've been working very hard, and I think I'm pleased with my progress so far.
0. Since I got a box of childhood toys from my sister, a lot of my other projects were postponed for the first 2 months, because our childhood toys were sticky, dusty, and unorganized. I devoted a good amount of time to cleaning and repairing the Jewel Riders toys and washing up my sister's old Winx Club dolls too. Fortunately, I can say I've completed these projects to my liking and all of said toys are now clean, organized, and stored. This was a large, 2 month long project for me, and it's done.
1. Photographing and documenting older dolls. I've made a good amount of progress so far, taking updated pics of my Ever After High dolls, and my Monster High dolls, and my Volks Dollfies, but I haven't gotten around to adding their info to my doll database yet, which is a problem. I will refrain from digging out and photographing more older dolls until my database is caught up.
2. Investing time and money into stands and wardrobes. I purchased a large amount of stands in the beginning of the year, and I've started distributing them to dolls when I take them out. I've also been buying some special clothes on Etsy for Coby and Redd, and I'm trying to stick to stuff I can't make, but I'll be honest, I haven't sewn a single thing since December. Hopefully, with the childhood toys project completed, I'll have more free time to sew again.
3. Drafting patterns for dolls that don't have them. I've made really good progress on this one. I was going to limit myself to one set a month, but I did 2 in February. I've drafted patterns for my Volks Dollfies in January, and Monster High g3 Cleo and Draculaura in February. This is really good, but I want to try to limit my pattern drafting to 1 set a month, because it's such an effort to do, and I really want to work on other projects.
4. Buying less dolls, and being more mindful of adding more dolls to my collection. I actually didn't buy any new dolls in January or February, tho I did buy a lot of mini dolls in January, and I did go way over budget buying Etsy clothes for Coby and Redd. I don't understand why those plastic mini dolls are a guilty pleasure of mine, but it is what it is. However, I do have some new dolls to look forward to.
After watching half the Winx Club reboot, I decided I wanted to collect those dolls after all. This was partially brought on because I dug out my old Winx Club dolls and they made me happy, and I just think the cartoon is cute! They don't meet my usual standards, but for their price, I'm willing to accept the short-comings in articulation. My first two Winx reboot dolls will arrive in March.
Another doll line I'm looking forward to is Moonspell Magic, a witchy spinoff of Monster High g3. The dolls are very cute, and I'm hoping they get some good lore. Mattel used to be so much better at providing lore for their doll lines...
Last off, I'm considering Kpop Demon Hunters dolls. Only if I like the movie though, which I will make an effort to watch in March, if I have the time.
Oh, and Takara Tomy is bringing Licca-chan dolls to the USA, finally. So I might get into those. I've never had a Licca-chan doll before, since they're usually exclusive to Japan, but she's almost as old as Barbie, and I'm eager to have a few!
Oh, and even though I made no social goals this year, I'm doing a good job attending every virtual doll meetup the discord group schedules. I will not be attending an anime convention this year, but will still co-host Dolly House Con with my sister this summer.
