Here's two dollies I haven't played with in a long time, but still have, Gabby and Lola! They were the first dolls I talked about on this blog, back in 2011. They are my only Volks Dollfies, and they were discontinued when I got them. I still have the Volks USA membership card that came with them though.
They are both very small, only about 8 inches tall, and have pretty good articulation. Gabby has the suntan skin tone and Lola has pale. Gabby has a smaller bust, and Lola has a much larger one.
This closed eye faceup is Gabby's second faceup. She had an open eye one, but I didn't like it at the time. Now that I have more years of experience and patience under my belt, I may attempt her faceup again.
I was on a serious Gothic Lolita kick at the time, but still wanted Gabby to appear tomboyish, so this is the outfit I designed for her. Green and yellow are her main colors.
Lola's had a few faceups too. I like this one, but would like to try her again too, with nicer paint, and steadier hands, etc. I did paint her a bit wonky.
Sewing all this lacy trim on Lola's hat, top, and skirt, took me a friggin while. Still, for her, I'd do it all over again. She's so precious.
