Two more months have passed. A lot of dolls have gone out, and a lot of dolls have come in. I've gotten some stuff done, but not nearly as much as I'd like.
1. Photograph and document old dolls. I'm all caught up on the database for dolls I'd photographed in the first two months. I have 94 fashion dolls in the database now, and 10 mini dolls. I'm short about 20 dolls before I count all the preorders who've come in this week. Since I'm all caught up, I've marked the dolls on my lists who aren't photographed yet, so I can dig them out for photo shoots. All my largest collections are done, except my Equestria Girls dolls, who still need some putting together before they can be photographed and finished. Might attempt an Equestria Girls summer again this year, but without the cringy movies...
2. Invest time and money into stands and wardrobes. Yeah, this got put on hold for a couple months because preorders dropped for Licca-chan dolls faster than I expected, plus good articulated Naturalistas dolls popped up in my Walmart. Yeah, I was distracted. I did buy some shoes for Shadow and Lucas and a little more clothing for Coby in March, but yeah, I haven't been on this lately. And I still haven't sewn anything since December of last year. However, my sister and I have a DHC event planned first weekend of June where we'll be doing lots of dolly sewing, god willing.
3. Drafting patterns for dolls I already have. Yeah, no, haven't done any since February. I've had a lot on my plate, which I'll discuss shortly.
4. Buying less dolls and being more mindful of who I add to my collection. I had so many preorders incoming, and nowhere to put any of them, so the weekend before they arrived I did a full on purge and reorganization of my doll collection. I let go of 9 fashion dolls, 6 ponies, and around 30 mini dolls with rubber clothes. I've come to the conclusion that I get no play value out of the little mini dolls with rubber hair and rubber clothes, and got rid of all but 2. With all that out, I emptied 13 storage totes. I was in desperate need of storage totes and my particular type doesn't get made anymore, so I had to empty some out or stop getting new dolls. Now I have more than enough storage for my preorders and room to grow.
And I did grow. Since the last update, I bought 6 Winx Club dolls, 2 Naturalistas, 3 Licca-chan dolls, and I asked for a new Ken for my birthday. And all but one Licca doll showed up this week! I've also made some serious decisions, like maybe I don't need Moonspell Magic dolls this summer. Mattel is kind of on my shit list for laying off designers and using AI, so I've really been restricting what I buy from them. There will be exceptions, because Mattel is still the primary source of dolls in my country, but I'm really trying to limit how much money I throw at them. So yeah, I kinda feel sick, and really don't wanna buy any more dolls at the moment.
Oh yeah, and my dolly group stopped having virtual meetups, but at least me and my sister get together sometimes.
