Since reality is what it is, I have chosen to buy a few final dolls this month before calling my collection complete, for the foreseeable future.
Here's who I've ordered this month:
- Ash Silverstone from Shadow High
- Rexx McQueen from Shadow High
- Luna Madison from Shadow High
- Nicole Steele from Shadow High
- Flash Sentry from Equestria Girls
Since things seem dire, I looked at all my dolls and decided I wanted more boys, and more Shadow High. Also, Flash Sentry has been sitting on my must buy list for ages now. After they all arrive, no more new dolls.
5 years ago, Rainbow High lit a fire under me, that set my love of dolls ablaze like it hadn't been since I was a child. I've always loved dolls, all my life, but Rainbow High gave me so much passion in those first 4 years, that I not only collected a lot of Rainbow High, but Monster High, Disney Princesses, Equestria Girls and more. My collection has exploded in the past 5 years, even with 2 doll purges.
I'm not saying goodbye to doll collecting. I'm keeping them all. However, due to circumstances outside my control, I think it's best I turn my focus from growing the collection to just enjoying and playing with the dolls I have. I've tried to do this before, but now it's not really a matter of my personal preference anymore. I've been spoiled incredibly rotten these past 5 years, barring a few months here and there of unemployment, but yeah, no more spoiling the Jobee with new dolls. I have enough, and will focus on the ones I have.
There's a lot I can do with the dolls I already have:
- Photo shoots
- sewing doll clothes
- drawing dolls
- writing fanfics about the dolls
- rewatching and rereading their attached media and books
- rewatching Youtube videos about dolls I have, reviews, customs, and restyles
- listen to music from the dolls I have. I have several soundtracks.
So yeah, there will still be plenty to do. I have all the fabric, fabric paint, and thread I need to make wardrobes for everyone. They'll be limited in scope, but I'll enjoy them regardless. I'll always have a camera on my phone, and a sketchbook available. And I have ALL the books.
I have plenty of dolls. I have a well rounded collection, including dolls of color and male dolls. They're good quality, well articulated, and absolutely beautiful to look at. Most of them have stands. Sure, I won't get to do fun unboxings anymore, but that's okay.
