I'm going to have less doll related goals this year, because I'm moving my focus on my book, video game, and art backlog. However, that doesn't mean I won't have doll goals for 2025! Doll collecting is my passion and I'm happy to keep it in my life. Here are my goals for my doll collection in the coming year.
1. Documentation. I want to make a database for my entire doll collection, with profiles of every doll. I want them to have portraits, and full length photos, in a few outfits, so each of my over 100 dolls will need a photo shoot just for this purpose. I'm hoping to tag these database entries by brand, year released, and any other features I decide on, but not character name. My doll blog has a lot of tag bloat because I tagged every single dolls name in every post. The doll database will be more streamlined and organized, and have a search function. Since I have over a hundred dolls, I will not complete the database in one year, but one doll each week, for 52 weeks, so I'll have half my doll collection recorded by the end of the year.
2. Doll Sewing. I know I have a lot planned for next year, but I don't want to drop doll sewing entirely. I'd like to get a few pieces cut and sewn each month. I have made patterns for most of my dolls, so this shouldn't be too hard. I will probably focus my sewing time for when I'm in long calls with my sister while she's packing.
3. Controlled Doll Buying. I did a good job slowing down on the doll buying in 2024, so I'd like to keep that control throughout 2025. I feel like I've completed my Rainbow High, and Monster High collections, so I should refrain from getting more from those brands. I will be keeping my eyes on the Rainbow Brite and Jem and the Holograms brands. The chances of something new coming out that I absolutely must have a pretty low. Magic Mixies Pixlings are what I asked for for Christmas, and I think I will ask for them on my birthday too. They make nice gifts, and the dolls are nice and small. I do want Barbie Dream Besties Daisy and Ken, but those are probably the last dolls in that line. Let's be real, they weren't a huge success this year.
I'm not going to make a goal to socialize, because doll people just don't socialize! I can't force them to hang out with me, it be how it be. I'm not hosting a Dolly House Con this year, since my sister is moving across the country to be closer, so she really doesn't need the additional stress of throwing a mini convention while trying to pack her entire life and haul it here. I think this is more than enough to keep me busy next year, with everything else I have planned.
