Well, in times of turmoil, when there are large world events that make me sad, but I can't do anything about, I turn to my rich imaginary world instead. Last year, it meant getting dolls from the dollar store. This year, it means collecting tiny 3 inch tall princesses with clip on ballgowns. To help lift my spirits, I've ordered the Princess Advent Calendar from Amazon.
This is Kathleen. She's the first princess in the advent calendar. Adding impulse to impulse, I opened the first one a few weeks early. She looks like she's staring death in the face. She didn't come with a name, I just decided to name her Kathleen. Her first dress is bright green with red and white painted details.
Here's what Kathleen looks like in the back. I think those lumps in her hair are a molded on hair bow. The painted details are only on the front. The back is solid green.
Here's what Kathleen looks like out of her clip on dress. She has tiny, unarticulated limbs, broad shoulders, narrow hips, and unpainted, molded on leotard and shoes. It gets worse...
Kathleen is hollow. She has no mass in her head or body. It gets worse...
While handling Kathleen during conversation, I noticed all the painted details rubbed off simply by being touched.
I think it's safe to assume that the other 11 princesses and 23 dresses are all the same quality. Regardless, I kinda like these cheap, tiny princesses. I want to repaint them and give them a new lease on life. I'm going to try to paint Kathleen and her dress.
Funny story, I did some digging, and realized these little princesses were a knock off of a knock off of a knock off product. The first product was Disney Princess Q Posket figures, which got miniaturized, knocked off, then knocked off again to make Kathleen and her crew. Wild.
