Update: Massive Doll Sort'n'Toss Results

I am moving in the spring this year.  In an effort to organize my stuff and minimize what I have to pack, I took on the project of sorting through every doll I own and tossing the ones that don't inspire me to create or have heavy nostalgia.  I thought this project would take me one week, it ended up taking me a whole month, but the results were very valuable.

I started out with an estimated 46 dolls.  Just taking inventory was a huge eye opener.  I thought I only had about 20 dolls, and I had more than double that.  I had dolls stashed in every room in the house, even my kitchen!  Madness!  Every doll was in excellent condition, with all their original accessories, by the way.  I'd even ordered doll stands for the ones that didn't come with stands.  It's a NICE collection.  I love my dolls, so I knew this was going to be an emotional process.  In spite of this, I set the goal to cut my collection in HALF.  I prepared a cardboard box, got some large ziplock bags, and started putting dolls I was willing to part with in each bag, with their clothes, accessories, and a stand for each, and put each bag in the box.

It got hard, really hard.  Some dolls went back and forth, in and out of the box.  I ended up waffling on three of them, Squirrel Girl and two of my curvy Barbies.  I also waffled hard on the big Na Na Na Teens.  They are beautiful, and have amazing clothes, but they and their boxes are just too darn big.

I don't know what inspired me, but at one point, I decided that a whole new storage plan was in order.  I had a bunch of dolls on display with their stuff in small drawers sets, which looked really good, but the dolls themselves couldn't fit in the drawers and the drawers took up a lot of space.  After giving it much thought, I decided to buy a bulk pack of plastic shoeboxes.  They are clear, with white lids, and they stacked on top of each other nicely.  When they arrived, I put most of my remaining dolls in their new homes, and it paid off big time space-wise.  My doll shelf, which could only hold 14 dolls before, could now hold up to 24 when the dolls were in the stackable boxes!  They are not on display, but they are safely tucked in their boxes, each one labeled with the dolls names.

Here's a picture.  Isn't it beautiful?  Now all those dolls have homes, and I was able to keep some of the dolls I was waffling over, because they fit in the boxes too!  I put 2 dolls in each box, except for Rainbow High, they each need one box to themselves because their stuff is bigger.  I was very happy to keep a few more dolls.

This picture is pretty important too.  In the center box, there are 16 individually bagged dolls.  In the box on the left is 8 sets of small drawers.  On the right are my two very large Na Na Na cases.  In the trash bag are some plushies that were also sorted.  All this is going to Goodwill tonight.  I hope the dollies all go to good homes, and I hope the drawers help some people get organized.

Tonight, I'm saying goodbye to 4 Failfix dolls, 4 Equestria Girls dolls, 2 Monster High reboot dolls, 1 Barbie, 1 Cave Club doll, 4 Rainbow High dolls, and 2 Na Na Na Ultimates.

I am not selling them.  I don't like selling things, the money is not worth the trouble to me.  Please do not ask about buying them, as of tonight, they are gone.
