Tutorial: Doll on a Budget
I think we've all noticed a big wave of new people entering the dolly community. One of the biggest things they ask about is how to get into it on a smaller budget. Don't get me wrong, I'd really love the new dolly people to support the resin artists we know and love, but you can only work with what you got, right? So here's some helpful tips I've compiled for starting your dolly family.
Just love a head but would be okay with a slightly different body? Great! Bodies get expensive new, but you can find them used in doll forums and on Ebay. I bought Amiga's head new and her body used on Ebay. The vinyls don't match perfectly, but I blushed her up and you can hardly tell!

Picking my Next Doll
My husband gets bothered by big ball-jointed dolls with changeable eyes. They creep him out and make him uncomfortable, especially if he thinks they're looking at him. When Comrade came, he got fed up with it. When I told him I was selling Comrade, he was really relieved. And then he told me about how the dolls were starting to really stress him out. He didn't want me to give up the hobby, because it made me happy, but two 1/3 scale dolls was just too much.

Gallery: Zilker Botanical Garden
Today Feebee and Zeebee, my two Hujoos, got to go on a pretty fantastic trip. Me and a few other local dolly people all went to Zilker Botanical Garden together. It was my first time there, so I wasn't sure what to expect, aside from, you know, flowers. Oh, and if anyone visits Austin Texas, I highly recommend it! http://www.zilkergarden.org/ But enough plugging, here's some pictures of me, Feebee, and Zeebee's day!

Gallery: Mika's Box Opening
Loads has happened since I last posted. I realized I just don't have interest in Comrade, so I found him a new home. He's now happily in a good family of someone I met on Dollieh Sanctuary. Don't worry, I still got a new family member of my own. Ladies and gents, presenting Mika! She's an Obitsu 11cm and I adore her! Here's her box opening...

Coming Soon...
I'm so excited! I finally ordered my bitty 'bitsu today. I'm gonna
name her Mira and she will be Amiga's pet cat. I already have the ears
from a past purchase. I really went all out this time, bought her a
bunch of clothes off Etsy and shoes from Mimiwoo. She's gonna go on so
many little adventures! Hubby might get a little mad at me when he sees
the totals in the bank, but I actually saved a lot of money. This Etsy
shop gives you discounts for buying multiple things, and I saved
shipping costs. I won't have to buy anything for her for quite a while.
And it will save me the frustration of making things so tiny. I'm so
excited! This is the first time I've bought clothes for a doll.

February's Tea Party
First doll meet of the year, and it was awesome! Hosted by moi, but lots of people helped, bringing in some tea from home, things like that. It was a great turnout and everyone was really nice. And one of our newer members just got his first doll! Yay!

Eyelashes
I got brave, and finally put eyelashes on Amiga. I've been so worries about them looking monstrous, too long, too dark, doing it wrong, all sorts of excuses. But today, I did it! I sized and trimmed them, then put tacky glue on her eyelids and carefully placed them on. I really should have made a tutorial, but I had no idea I'd be doing it right. Now she's among the eyelashed dolls.
